Abigail Morales is a third-year student at UC Santa Barbara working to attain a B.A. in Sociology with minors in Applied Psychology and Black Studies. For the first time in the Gabler Promise Scholars Writing Program, she has taken on the position as a Peer Mentor where she will share her experiences being in the past cohort, facilitate in class discussions, and help guide the writing projects of current students. Through the writing program, Abigail has expanded her academic interests in interpersonal identity topics regarding her role in labor organizing and the Indigenous Oaxacan diaspora. Abigail is currently a part of the United Student Labor Action Coalition, a mentor for the Promise Scholar Summer Mentorship Program, and helping form a collective for Indigenous peoples in diaspora.
