Joshua Hopkins

Joshua Hopkins first-generation transfer student at UCSB, majoring in Statistics and Data Science. He is originally from Los Angeles but has lived all over the country. As a former foster youth, he creates awareness as a guardian scholar and participant in California College Pathways state-wide program, which has a mission to help former foster youth achieve four-year degrees and beyond.

     Joshua has a four-year old daughter, who inspires him to set an example of achievement through higher education. After undergrad, Joshua plans on earning a PhD in Statistics and Applied Probability, so that he can contribute to research on the economic and educational disadvantages through systemic policies and legislation that impact the conditions of urban communities.
